The 59th annual ETSU Alumni Golf Classic was held at Cattails at MeadowView in Kingsport on Friday, September 18.

ETSU alumni, friends, faculty, staff, students, and volunteers were present for the two-person select-shot tournament held by the ETSU National Alumni Association. Golfers chose from one of eight divisions: the Gold Division for players with a handicap of 10 and under; the Blue Division for those with a handicap of 11-20; the White Division for players with a handicap of 21 or more; Faculty/Staff; Women; Greeks; Seniors; and Co-ed (male/female).

The champions of the Gold Flight were Tommy Bryant and Griffin Cusick, who won with a score of 67.  Eli Bradley and Austin Nanney scored a 70 to nab second place.  In the Blue Division, Mike Cusick and Ty DeBusk won with a score of 66.  Scoring a 68, Greg Gibson and Mike Seal were the runners-up.  The White Division crowned Aaron Polichnowski and Stan Polichnowski the champions with a score of 65.  Trevor Huckaby and Seth Sheehan were second claiming a score of 67.

Winning the Co-Ed Division were Jody Head and Trevor Head with a score of 66.  The team of Courtney Saddler and Aaron Saddler shot a 68, securing second place. In the Senior Division, first-place winners were Paul Johnson and Phil Vittetoe, who won with a score of 66.  Todd Holbrook and Pete Huckaby were runners-up with a score of 67.  The winners of the Faculty/Staff Division were Joe Harrah and Kevin Smith, who shot a 70.  Second place was awarded to Brian Johnston and Ralph Mills, who scored 74.  Mary Dave Blackman and Jenny Brock had a score of 75, winning the Women’s Division.  Susan Crum and Rebecca Muncy claimed second place with a score of 86.  In the Greek division, Alan Giles and Allen Self of Sigma Chi prevailed with a score of 64.  Runners up were Curt Acres and David Blythe, also of Sigma Chi, with a score of 67.

Other tournament contest winners include Pete Huckaby, who won the Men’s Longest Drive challenge, receiving a catered barbecue dinner worth $500 from The Firehouse Restaurant. Joe Harrah won the Men’s Closest to the Pin competition.  Susan Crum won the Longest Drive and was rewarded with an overnight stay for two along with an hour massage compliments of The Carnegie Hotel.  She won Women’s Closest to the Pin in the Women’s competition.
