East Tennessee State University Bill Gatton College of Pharmacy welcomes Dr. Morteza Rasoulianboroujeni as assistant professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Sciences.
Rasoulianboroujeni joined the college in July 2025, following a postdoctoral fellowship and the completion of his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of Wisconsin–Madison. He also holds bachelor’s degrees in Polymer Engineering and Biomedical Engineering, as well as a Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering from Amirkabir University of Technology in Tehran.

He brings a unique blend of academic, research and industry experience to ETSU, having previously served in roles such as core facility manager, research scientist, instructor, and chief scientific officer at institutions including Marquette University School of Dentistry, the University of Wisconsin–Madison, and a biotechnology startup in San Francisco. He has mentored numerous undergraduate, Doctor of Dental Surgery, and PharmD students in research across institutions.
Rasoulianboroujeni’s research focuses on drug delivery systems, with particular emphasis on improving the formulation and biodistribution of nanomedicines for cancer treatment. His lab explores novel drug combinations, functional precision medicine and the use of AI to support the design and screening of advanced delivery systems.
