East Tennessee State University’s Upward Bound program will participate in the USDA’s Summer Food Service Program to provide free meals to eligible children in the region.
Participants can claim their meals at ETSU’s Dining Hall, located on the third floor of the D.P. Culp Student Center. The food program will run from May 28 to June 27, with meals provided on the following schedule:
Breakfast (Monday-Friday): 7:30-8:20 a.m.
Lunch (Monday-Friday): 12:15-1:30 p.m.
Dinner (Monday-Thursday): 5-6 p.m.
Children are automatically eligible for the program if they meet the income guidelines for free and reduced-price meals in the National School Lunch Program, are part of households that qualify for the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), receive benefits under the Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR), and who meet guidelines for Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF).

Upward Bound is a federally funded grant program that supports high school participants in their preparation for college entrance. The program provides opportunities for participants to succeed in their pre-college performance and higher education pursuits.
