ETSU accepts transfer credit from regionally accredited institutions and also has partnerships with many community colleges in Tennessee, and some surrounding states.

Will my credits transfer?  

When you apply, you will need to request an official transcript from any college in which you’ve previously been enrolled. Until then, there are several resources to explore:

  • Transfer Course Equivalency Table. The Transfer Course Equivalency Table is a database maintained by the ETSU Office of Undergraduate Admissions staff. It contains a list of institutions, organized by state, whose course credit ETSU has evaluated in the past. Don't worry, though, if your institution is not on the list. That may just mean that ETSU has not evaluated credit from that institution before!
  • Transfer Works System. Transfer Works is a degree planning tool where you can input your completed courses one by one to get an idea of how they may transfer to ETSU.  
  • Articulation Agreements. Articulation agreements are formal partnerships between colleges that specify how credits from one institution will transfer and apply toward a degree at another institution. ETSU has agreements with many community colleges in Tennessee and some in other states, such as North Carolina, Virginia, Kentucky, Maryland, and South Carolina. Each agreement outlines courses that meet degree requirements at both schools.

What does "regionally accredited" mean?

To be accredited means that a college or university meets high standards for quality and honesty in the education it provides. Regional accreditation means that a regional accrediting agency has reviewed the school and confirmed that it is working toward its mission, has the resources to achieve its goals, and has clear educational objectives.
