East Tennessee State University’s 2026-27 Great Lectures Series begins on Friday, Sept. 18, with lectures from Drs. Kelly Price and Dane Scott.

This lecture series celebrates and showcases the work of faculty recently promoted to full professor at ETSU. Faculty play an integral role in ETSU’s mission of ETSU through teaching, research and service, and this lecture series provides them with an opportunity to share their work with the broader community.

The faculty will deliver their lectures beginning at 2 p.m. in the East Tennessee Room on the second level of the D.P. Culp Student Center. The event is free and open to the public.

Dr. Kelly Price

Price, professor of marketing and director of ETSU's nationally recognized Master of Science in Digital Marketing program, will deliver a lecture titled "The Power of a Prompt."

A three-time recipient of the College of Business and Technology Excellence in Teaching Award, Price has spent more than 20 years creating engaging, student-centered learning experiences that prepare students for success in marketing and business. She is recognized for her innovative approach to online education, commitment to student success and ability to connect marketing theory with professional practice.

Beyond the classroom, Price has provided extensive service to ETSU through faculty leadership, governance and program development while supporting professional, nonprofit and community organizations throughout the region. Her scholarship explores consumer behavior, digital marketing, online education, faith-based communication and emerging technologies, bridging academic research with professional practice.

Dr. Dane Scott

Scott, professor of chemistry in the College of Arts and Sciences, will deliver a lecture titled "Together Everyone Accepts the Mission."

Since joining ETSU in 2015, Scott has focused on advancing student success through teaching, research and mentorship. His mentorship has led to published works with student collaborators and national research presentations.

Since 2022, Scott has also secured external funding to support research on collaborative efforts to develop novel filter materials to remove toxins from the air. He currently serves as coordinator of ETSU's Master of Science in Chemistry program, where he has helped strengthen the graduate curriculum to better serve students and faculty.

ETSU faculty lead the way in research, teaching and service, helping to position ETSU as the Flagship of Appalachia.
