East Tennessee State University will welcome the holiday season with its annual Holiday Lights Celebration on Tuesday, Nov. 17, bringing students, families and community members together for an evening of festive traditions and holiday cheer.
The lighting ceremony will begin at 5:45 p.m. at ETSU’s Alumni Plaza, located at Burgin Dossett Hall facing the ETSU Foundation Carillon. ETSU President Dr. Brian Noland, Student Government Association Executive Vice President Macy Miller and ETSU’s beloved mascot, Bucky, will join the community to illuminate campus.
Festivities will include live music by the ETSU Jazz Ensemble, hot cocoa, cookies and more. The event is free and open to the public, inviting the community to celebrate the start of the holiday season.
Following the lighting ceremony, community members are invited to enjoy the synthetic ice-skating rink at University Commons and catch a holiday movie screening at ETSU's Bud Frank Theatre in Gilbreath Hall. Screenings of the classic, "Mickey's Christmas Carol," will take place at 6:15 and 7 p.m.
Whether attending for the music, seasonal treats or movie screening, the Holiday Lights Celebration offers an opportunity to make memories as the holiday season begins.
