The Frontier Health Foundation has established two scholarships at East Tennessee State University to support students pursuing careers in psychology and social work.

“Investing in students who are preparing to serve our communities is one of the most meaningful ways we can strengthen the future of mental health care,” said Kristie Hammonds, president and CEO of the Frontier Health Foundation.

The support will come through two separate endowed scholarships—one benefiting students in the ETSU College of Arts and Sciences and the other supporting students in the College of Health Sciences.

“These endowments reflect our commitment to removing barriers for students pursuing careers in social work and psychology while building a stronger mental and behavioral health care workforce for generations to come,” Hammonds said. “We are proud to partner with ETSU and to invest in students.”

The Frontier Health Foundation works to strengthen Frontier Health’s mental and behavioral health services throughout East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia. As the philanthropic arm of Frontier Health, the Foundation brings resources together to support critical programs, reduce stigma surrounding mental and behavioral health and expand access to care. Through fundraising, community partnerships and strategic investments, the Foundation helps Frontier Health respond to evolving community needs and strengthen behavioral health care across the region.

“Scholarship support from community partners like the Frontier Health Foundation provides an important investment in students whose desire is to improve the quality of life of others,” said Howard Reddy, vice president for University Advancement and president/CEO of the ETSU Foundation. “This funding eases the financial burden of a college education and allows us to recruit the best and brightest students.”

The ETSU Foundation is grateful for the generous contributions from regional supporters like the Frontier Health Foundation. The Foundation supports the university’s mission by managing endowments, scholarships and private contributions that benefit ETSU students, faculty and campus programs.
