Let’s be honest – starting a new semester can feel overwhelming, whether you’re a first-year student finding your way around campus or a returning student trying to figure out your new schedule.
That’s exactly why ETSU Welcome Week exists, and this year’s lineup from August 24-30 is designed to make those first-week jitters disappear.
Think of Welcome Week as your crash course in everything that makes ETSU special, wrapped up in seven days of activities that are actually fun (and yes, there are prizes involved).
Here's what you need to know:
- Sunday kicks off with the Block Party at Tri-Hall Field starting at 6 p.m. This isn’t just any cookout – it’s your chance to meet people before classes even start. Come hungry, leave with new friends.
- Monday brings the real variety. The Dip Into Leadership & Community event at University Commons (10 a.m.-2 p.m.) is perfect if you’re wondering how to get involved on campus. Later that afternoon, catch the men's soccer team take on High Point – because nothing says welcome back like cheering on your Bucs.
- Tuesday’s Scoop on Faith, Service & Impact (Borchuck Plaza, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.) connects you with community organizations if making a difference is your thing. That evening, the Campus Rec & SGA Pool Party at the CPA Pool (6-8 p.m.) features the Sports and Wellness Showcase – basically, if you want to stay active this semester, this is your starting point.
- Wednesday's ETSU Pride Community Showcase (Borchuck Plaza, 9 a.m.-1 p.m.) celebrates our campus community. That evening, test your basketball skills at the ROTC 3-on-3 Tournament at the CPA Courts (5 p.m.).
- Thursday offers cultural exploration with the Arts & Cultural Remix at University Commons (10 a.m.-2 p.m., then wind down with Sunset Yoga on the football field (7-8 p.m.) – yes, yoga on the actual field.
- Friday's Academic & Honors Campus Roundup (University Commons, 10 a.m.-2 p.m.) helps you discover academic opportunities beyond the classroom.
- Saturday wraps everything up with the football home opener against Murray State (7 p.m.). There’s no better way to cap off Welcome Week than cheering in a packed stadium.
Throughout the week, you’ll have chances to win tablets, headphones and other gear just for showing up and participating.
The best part? Every single event is designed to help you find your people and your place at ETSU. Whether you're into leadership, sports, service, arts or just want to meet people who share your interests, there’s something here for you.
