East Tennessee State University has joined the region to support those in critical need in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene. The university, in partnership with the ETSU Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, is coordinating opportunities for Buccaneer fans to donate money or supplies at the ETSU Homecoming Football Game on Saturday, Oct. 5.

Ways for Buc Nation to get involved include:

ETSU Athletics Donation Drive

As ETSU Football prepares to welcome the Chattanooga Mocs to town for the longstanding Rail Rivalry, the two rivals are instead teaming up to collect donations for victims of the destruction caused by Hurricane Helene.

The Bucs and the Mocs will be working together throughout the week to collect donations. The Chattanooga Athletics Department is accepting donations throughout the week and will deliver those to ETSU’s campus on Saturday.

Buccaneer fans are encouraged to bring their donations to campus on Saturday, Oct. 5. Fans can deliver to drop-off points located at the Food City Fan Zone in Lot 21 and at bins outside of each entrance to William B. Greene Jr. Stadium.

Flood Buckets and Hygiene Kits Supply Drive

The ETSU Student Government Association, in partnership with the Office of Leadership and Civic Engagement, is coordinating a supply drive to collect flood buckets and hygiene kits. Donations will be collected at the designated tent located in the CPA Front Yard, directly across from Lot 21, from 1 p.m. until kickoff.

Any donation is appreciated for creating flood buckets and hygiene kits for those in critical need following the storm.
The SGA is requesting 5-gallon round buckets with resealable lids, clothespins, clotheslines, heavy-duty trash bags, N-95 masks, kitchen and work gloves, laundry detergent (32-64 oz.), household cleaner (16-40 oz.), dish soap (16-34 oz.), air fresheners (4-8 oz.), insect repellant, scrub brushes, reusable cleaning wipes and scouring pads for the flood cleaning buckets.

They are also requesting hand towels (no kitchen or microfiber), washcloths (same restrictions), sturdy combs with 4-7 inches of teeth (no pocket combs or picks), nail clippers (no nail files or emery boards), soap (no Ivory or Jergens and keep in packaging), toothbrushes (keep in packaging), bandages and one-gallon reusable bags for the hygiene kits.

Concession Stand Donations

Through collaboration with our partners at Sodexo, fans will have the opportunity to donate to disaster relief efforts at each concession stand located inside William B. Greene Jr. Stadium. Funds raised will go to ETSU's Buccaneer Student Crisis Fund. With each purchase made, choose to add a donation that will directly support our students.

Monetary Donations for ETSU Students and Employees

The Buccaneer Student Crisis Fund, Bucky's Food Pantry, and the ETSU Employee Emergency Assistance Fund are here to provide immediate relief for students, staff and faculty who are facing hardships after the storm.

To explore each fund, and make a monetary donation, visit the official donation site.

Many other opportunities to give back are taking place throughout the region. The Bucs Rebuild Together response site will be updated with additional information as it becomes available. Please continue checking for up-to-date resources and information.
